What is a mouse

What is a mouse, complete knowledge of the computer mouse?

What is a mouse, complete knowledge of the computer mouse?: In the outside world, we use the hand for lifting, holding, carrying, moving, etc. But, if you want to do the same on a computer, how will you do it? Because computers do not have hands. Then how will this work? Let us tell you.
Actually, the computer also has a hand on all these tasks. Yes, you read the right one hand. You know that hand by the name of Mouse. So let's know what this mouse is? And how is the mouse used?

What is a mouse?

The mouse is an input device, which is named the Pointing Device. The mouse is mainly used to select, move, and open and close items on the computer screen. Instructs the user computer using the mouse. Through this, a user can access the computer anywhere on the screen.

First Mouse Invented by Douglas C. Engelbart

The world's first computer mouse, which Douglas C. Englebert himself is holding in his hands.
The computer mouse was invented in 1968 by a World War II soldier, Douglas C. Engelbart.

A normal mouse usually looks like a real mouse. It is small and rectangular, connected to the computer by a cable. A computer mouse can be something like this.

A simple Mouse usually has three buttons, which can be seen in the cheetah above. The first and second buttons are known as Primary Button and Second Button respectively.

They are called Right Click and Left Click in common language. And the third button is called the Scroll Wheel. Now more than three buttons have started coming in the modern Mouse, which has different functions.

Different types of the computer mouse - Mouse Type

Computer Mouse has completed its journey in many stages. Many different forms were developed during this time. Which we can mainly divide into the following five types.

  1. Mechanical mouse
  2. Optical mouse
  3. Wireless mouse
  4. Trackball mouse
  5. Stylus mouse

1. Mechanical Mouse

This mouse was invented by Bill English in 1972. The Mechanical Mouse used a ball for instructions. Hence it is also called Ball Mouse. This ball could be rotated from right to left and up and down.

2. Optical Mouse

Optical Mouse works on LED - Light Emitting Diode and DSP - Digital Signal Processing technology. There are no balls in this mouse. A small bulb is installed in its place.

Therefore, the pointer moves when the mouse is moved. And through the buttons in it, we instruct the computer. Nowadays this type of mouse is used.

They are connected to the computer by a wire. Which also supplies electricity to it. Optical Mouse is easy to use.

3. Wireless Mouse

Wireless mouse is called Wireless Mouse. It is also called Cordless Mouse. This mouse is based on Radiofrequency (RF) technology. But its texture is like an optical mouse.

So a Transmitter and Receiver is needed to use it. The transmitter is made in the mouse itself. And Receiver is made separately. Which is installed on the computer?

This mouse requires a battery to operate. So we have to buy a small battery separately.

4. Trackball Mouse

The design of this mouse is also similar to that of some optical mice. But it uses a trackball for control.

To instruct the computer, the user has to spin the ball with his fingers or fingers. This mouse does not give us much control. And it also takes time to run.

5. Stylus Mouse

This type of mouse is also called stick Mouse. Because Stylus Mouse was invented by Gordan Stewart. Hence 'g' in stick means Gordan.

This mouse looks like a pen. Which also has a wheel. This wheel can be moved up and down. It is mostly used for touchscreen devices.

Different forms and meanings of Mouse Pointer / Cursor

Now, we have become familiar with Mouse. But have you thought about how we recognize the mouse on the computer screen? Let's try to know this too.
Actually, Mouse is a Pointer Device, you have already known it. According to its name, the mouse uses some shapes, which are called Mouse Pointer, to point towards the item on the computer screen.

You know Mouse Pointer by the name of Cursor. Mouse pointers also change their appearance according to their position on the computer screen. In which case mouse pointers change their form, it is explained in detail below.

Functions of mouse

A mouse is a multifunctional tool, with the help of which many tasks can be done. The mouse is mostly used for lifting, holding, holding items, etc. on the computer screen.

But, how are all these things done? The mouse does some actions to do them. What are these actions? How are they done? Come, let's know.

1. Pointing

When the Cursor is moved to an item available on the computer screen and the pointer touches the item, a box appears that tells us about the item. This entire action is called Pointing. This action is also known as Hovering.

2. Selecting

After pointing at an item on the computer screen, pressing the left button once of the mouse selects that item. This is called Selecting. When an item is selected, there is a square around it, which shows that this item is selected.

3. Clicking

The action of pressing the mouse button is called Click. To click, press any Mouse button and release it. There are two types of Click.

1. Left Click: Pressing the left button of the mouse is called Left Click. These are as follows.

  1. Single Click –Single Click - Pressing the left button of the mouse once and releasing it is called Single Click. Through Single Click, the selection of an item, opening the menu, opening the link available on a webpage, etc. are done.
  2. Double Click - Double click occurs by pressing the left button of the mouse twice simultaneously. Double Click works like a shortcut. Through this, any item, file, program, etc. can be opened. Apart from this, a double click is also used to select any word in a document.
  3. Triple Click - Pressing the left button of the mouse three times at once simultaneously causes Triple Click. Triple Click is rarely used. By this, the entire paragraph in a document can be selected.

2. Right Click: Pressing the right button of the mouse is called Right Click. Right-clicking on an item opens a list of actions that can be done with that item.

4. Dragging and Dropping

Any item available on the computer screen can be placed from one place to another by the mouse. For this, the Dragging and Dropping action of the mouse is used.

To select an item through the mouse pointer, press and hold the left button on that item and drag the item to its desired place and release the button. This entire task (dragging and dropping) is called Dragging and Dropping.

5. Scrolling

Moving a document, webpage up and down by Mouse Wheel is called Scrolling. To move upwards, the wheel has to rotate on its side and to move downwards it has to be turned outward.
